Radical Truths - Week 6
How much is enough? Talking about Gods grace, mercy, love... all things we don't have a problem with. Start talking about money? Everyone gets quite. "Don''t touch whats mine!" Is your money yours? Or your masters? What is it about "our" money that grips us so mightily? Jesus spoke about money/treasure OFTEN. He knew the power it has over people. Jesus tells us we can not serve two masters. We cannot live for God and live for money. Which one takes precedence in our heart? Which do we long for and run after with most fervor? How will we show the world that we value Christ above and beyond all other things? How will the world know who we live for and what our true treasure is? One of those ways is by the way we use what we have for the good of others and the glory of Christ - taking the abundance we have been blessed with and blessing others in need.

Very profound truth right there, its so hard for some people to release their tithes and offerings because they think too carnaly about it. Once we understand that it is a requirement, part of our acceptable service unto Him, then its easy. One problem I have is some preachers tell this incentive gospel, give your tithes so you will be blessed, God does bless but Im going to do it because Im obeying Him and if I get blessed in the process cool, but we are so hung on me me me, the tithes/offerings is to advance the kingdom. Now I have a question for some, now would you say that me being a christian artist, using my funds to purchase studio time, tracks, equipment, is investing into Christ as im using it as a tool to minister, or just using it to achieve my own selfish dreams and ambitions? Lets talk about it....
ReplyDeleteTough Question Fluid!! You know when I think about the Bible and the character of God I am always reminded of the fact that God is always concerned about our hearts. Where is our heart in what we are doing? When our love and our work overflows from the beauty of the Gospel changing our hearts, we are glorifying God, because it is in Him that we are most satisfied. I think that as a Christian artist using your gifts- financial and artistic to glorify God is a great thing. But, our flesh will always be at war with our hearts, and so its important to always be a person of prayer- confessing our sins, checking our hearts, and working from the overflow of grace working to change us and make us new people.
